I HEART HEDGEHOGS FRIDGE MAGNET embellished, hand-painted wood
I love hedgehogs, and have rescued and looked after many, many of these delightful little creatures over the years. Sadly, they aren't nearly as common as they were when I was a child, but there are several things we can do to try and swell their numbers and make their lives easier- I have a few suggestios for you to consider at the bottom of the page! :-)
These little fridge magnets are made of beech wood, hexagons, 50mm (2 inches) across. Each design is handprinted, then hand coloured,- no two will be identical as you can see from the photos of two examples. Then the little shiny red heart embellishment is stuck on and I then coat the front of the fridge magnet in at least three coats of satin varnish.
These are usually made to order, I don't keep a lot of stuff in stcck or I would need an Amazon warehouse to store all the vairations and designs- so please allow a few days for the magic to happen- thank you!
Price includes one magnet (the photo of two is simply to show the individual variations) and UK postage and packing; we use recycled packaging whenever possible.
If you want to help hedgehogs:
1. If you have a garden please consider leaving a corner of it wild.
2. Avoid using chemicals in your garden.
3. Buy or make a nestbox for hedgehogs.
4. . Build a compost heap
5. Put down food and water (not milk- it's very bad for them!) for them- always use shallow bowls or prop a stick against the edge, as small mammals can drown in water that is too deep, especially if a bowl has slippery sides.
6. If you have a compost heap or plan a bonfire, always gently turn the heap and move the bonfire wood before sticking a fork into the compost heap or lighting the bonfire- for obvious reasons- hedgehogs get killed every year simply by people not thinking to do that.
Thank you!
