"GREEN MAN" CARD, Jack-in-the-Green image, from an original design.
This is a digitally printed card from an original design which was a screenprint on black fabric, then embellished with a photographic surround of foliage, through which you can imagine the Green Man peering.
This is my take on the iconic green man images that appear on medieval churches throughout Europe, most famously in the cathedral at Bamberg, Germany. Long seen as a symbol of rebirth and most associated with Spring, tying together old pagan symolism and Christianity, the Green Man is a central feature of Jack In the Green Festivites occurring around May Day in various parts of the UK including Hastings, where, for example, the Green Jack is paraded through the town before being ritually symbolically slain in order to allow the arrival of summer.
We are animal lovers and have spent many years involved in widlife rescue and so we will donate 10% of the profit from the sale of this item to wildlife rescue- either Hitchin Squirrel Rescue or Hedgehog Cabin rescue, to support their wonderful work.
The card is blank inside for your own message, and has a leafy green border inside on the "writing" side.
